Williamsburg is in Virginia and your daughter will love it if she is at all interested in history or old things. The entire city has costumed guides and is a really neat place to visit.

It’s in Virginia. What’s there is Busch Gardens. If the 13-year-old and her friend like roller coasters, go there!

I’m guessing you’re probably referring to Williamsburg in Virginia. There’s a lot of history to the city, and it’s a pretty educational visit. It’s one of America’s first cities, and so a lot of it is still preserved Colonial style, and it’s really not hard to find tour guides in costume. That said, if she’s not such a history buff, there isn’t a lot else to the city. I actually went there when I was thirteen as part of a school trip and it was probably the down part of the trip (although compared to Washington DC and New York City that’s not a surprise.) If I were thirteen I would probably rather choose Disney or Alaska.
Actually I would still probably choose Disney or Alaska.

I think she should travel with you. She is too young to travel by herself (I mean not with her parents). Offer her permission when she gets older, maybe 17 or 18. She must be convienced that she is lucky to travel to the Caribbean and that she should not turn down this opportunity.

I went to Williamsburg when I was about 13, and with the exception of Busch Gardens, could not have been more bored. The history lesson was not what I wanted on my summer vacation. Now that I am an adult, I can appreciate a little bit more.
