I’ve known people that did both and the best reviews I heard were from people that did not do the Alaskan cruise.

If you’re the active type and want to do things like kayaking in Aialak bay then cruising is probably NOT for you. You’ll also want to broaden your horizons because there is so much more to Alaska than Seward. You’ll also want to see places like Kenai, Anchorage, Prince William Sound, Wasila, Talkeetna, Denali and Fairbanks. If you have the time and the funds, you can get to places like Katmai, Lake Clark, Kodiak, Nome, Kotzebue, Barrow, etc. There is much to see and do.
Recommendatons:
I used and recommend these tour operators and flying services. Alaska is a spectacular place to visit but you have to be willing to spend a little money to really see it. A reasonable budget for two people would be about $10,000 which includes airfares to/from Anchorage.
