I can only speak about SE Alaska. If you are going on a cruise, I assume that is where you will be going.
There is a small Black population in Alaska, but not a very large one.
For the hack of it, I looked up the race statistics for Juneau (where I was born) and to be honest I was shocked. Personally, I thought that about half the people were white, about 20% native American, 20% Asian, and 10% Black. I was way off.
Just like with most of the US, a large majority of the population is white (75%). The blacks have the next largest at 12%. The Asians came in at 4% and the Native Americans at 1%. I put the link below in case you are intersted.
The nice thing about Alaska is that race really isn’t an issue. IMHO, in Alaska, a person is only as good as their word. I found it the most enjoyable place I have ever lived in the world (of the 4 continents and 20 something counties I have been too anyway). Sure you will run into the occasional racist, but for the most part, people accept each other as people, nothing more or less.
Dress warm and be prepared for rain. The weather in SE Alaska is cool and unpredictable. I hope you enjoy yourself on your cruise. The website has some excellent articles on cruising and some messages boards where you can ask questions about Alaska , tours, cruise line, etc.
Happy Sailing!

I have notice a lot of black people here. Anchorage Alaska has 2 main military insulation’s here, and there seem to be alot of black people in the area, I dont feel that being black in Alaska will be an issue at all.
