Cruise Ship Line Age rules?

burtonage asked:

I want to go on a cruise with a friend departing from Vancouver to Alaska. Now, in the cruise ship’s line age rules it states that I have to be accompanied by an adult minimum 25 years old since I am not 21, but I am 19, which is legal in Canada. Since I don’t want to gamble anyway, will they let my friend and I on (we’re both 19)?

Cruises don’t only have those rules for the purpose of keeping you from drinking or gambling (although depending on the cruiseline you may be unable to drink even tho you’re legal in your country). They have those rules also to prevent their ship from becoming Cancun on spring break.

It doesn’t matter that you say you don’t want to gamble, I doubt they’ll let you go as “rules are rules”. You can give it a try and call the cruiseline, though!

    Sorry :-(

NO!!! those are rules that all of the cruise lines imposed for a purpose and they do follow them. If you try to book a cruise they will deny the booking because of your age. And there is no way you can fudge it because all of the cruise line require positive ID, a passport, or a certified copy of your birth certificate and a photo ID.

The issue is not gambling because on most cruise ship you can gamble at age 18 or older, except on cruises to Alaska and Hawaii. The issue is general conduct and the cruise lines want someone on board who will be old enough to be responsible for their younger family and friends who are passengers. In addition, many people aged 18 to 20 want to drink on cruise ships and the legal drinking age for all cruise ships is age 21 or older. So the older responsible adult is responsible for seeing to it that underaged family and friends do not drink; and subsequently get rowdy.

No. Carnival has the 25 age minimum and most others are age 21.

See if anyone older can come with you guys! if not cruising is not an option…

no. they wont let you on. They dont care if gamble or not.

Get a cousin, relative, sibling that is at least 21+ (25+ if you guys want to go on a Carnival cruise) and will take responsibility for you guys…or get your parents to come.

I went on princess alone with a friend in 2005 when we were both only 18… Don’t know if they’ve changed their rules since then. From what I heard they were the only cruise line that allowed under 21 to go alone at that point.
