I live in Vancouver and have question regarding cruises. We are planning to go on a cruise on November. The only cruise that departs at that time from Vancouver is Alaska… isn’t too cold to go to Alaska at that time? also considering airfare cost what other port and destination you recommend?

Hey, I am a seasoned outdoors woman trying to plan a “lighter” Alaska adventure (no cruises) with some friends of mine. They’re kinda cityish and soft, so no mountain climbing, backpacking in the wilds, etc., like I want to do. Am thinking of stuff to do that’s outdoors for a week. Already am considering Denali for an option.

We are taking a Norwegian Cruise Ship to Alaska so my question is what advice can you tell me you know or learned on about this Alaskan Cruise. Now I have been on several Disney and Carribean boat trips and yes even experienced very choppy waters.So I am told they charge us (per day) on tips (but u can have that removed) and seating is not reserved but (open) and free style. So I have not been on a crise for 5 years and my question is what has changed and what do I need to know to prevent any possible problem. thanks and I appreciate your help
Ok if the Cruise Line automatically adds money to my account for tipping and we only eat once a day my question is why should we (party of 6) pay such high fees for services we have not used.How can I have these tip charges totally removed from my bill and let me tip the people accordingly. If we are to stand in long lines to wait for services and eating why should we be required to pay for employees that really are not doing much for me. TIP stands for To Insure Promp Service. Now why tip if we are getting the food and I don’t have my bed made up each day? I just don’t get it???????

My family is going on a cruise from Seward, Alaska to Vancouver, Canada. It’s summer July/August. My kids are going to want to pack shorts and tanks — Is that appropriate clothing or will it be too cold for that? I’m just not sure what to pack. (Yes, I’m asking early so I have plenty of time to convince them what they need to pack is what I want them to pack.)

i’m trying to move to alaska and i need to find a job before i get there. i’m not so interested in living in anchorage (i lived there for a few months while i worked for the cruise lines), but i wouldn’t mind living in fairbanks, juneau, or even one of the smaller places. i love the wilderness, but would like a job that supports myself. i graduated from a university with a BS in physics, but is that even relevant for Alaska?

And teaching in alaska, how easy/ hard is that process? I dont have certification, but wouldn’t mind teaching physics or math.
